New Longview Gets Upcycled in Its 100th Year

Innovative Arts Festival brings music, food, fashion, jewelry, home décor and more!

Lee’s Summit, Missouri –The New Longview Foundation as part of its 100-year celebration is excited to announce September 13-15 as the dates of the annual New Longview Arts and Music Festival.

We are kicking off an exciting and fresh approach this year. Previous years focused on juried art entirely. This year, the festival will be expanding into upCycled décor, boutique items, featured demonstrations by vendors, Children's Art Activities, live music, plenty of food, an historical hayride tour and an amazing Friends of New Longview Tent with local historical items available for sale.  It’s a chance to own a piece of local history. Our festival will offer a mesmerizing blend of vintage-inspired new and old items that have been re-purposed or re-designed to fit into modern lifestyles.

The excitement begins Friday, September 13, with bagpipes leading local school children in a parade culminating with a themed birthday cake made by, Mike Elder of Black Sheep Custom Cake, three time champion of TLC’s Cake Off and nationally renowned for his innovative and creative approach to cake decorating. Following the kick-off will be an exclusive VIP cocktail party for “Friends of New Longview” and sponsors held in the historical tent offering first chance at purchasing the exclusive historical items.

Last year nearly 50,000 people enjoyed the three-day event that benefits the New Longview Foundation. The Foundation strives to empower, advocate and coordinate projects that enhance and preserve superior architecture, celebrate the arts and enable healthy living following the great legacy of R. A. Long. More information about the foundation can be found at www.longviewfoundation.org.

The festival runs Friday, September 13, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. ; Saturday, September 14, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and, Sunday September 15, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information about this amazing festival, our sponsors and artists can be found on our festival website at
